Creative Sprouts After-School Arts Education & Youth Enrichment Program (Fall 2026 )

September 1 - December 10

The Carpenter Art Garden’s Creative Sprouts after school program is the major component in carrying out our mission. This program serves the Binghampton community through art, mindfulness, urban farming workshops, and youth entrepreneurship. Our program creates a safe and supportive environment where participants can engage in meaningful art based activities that promote personal growth, community bonding and sustainable living.

This year we are offering many new and amazing opportunities every Tuesday - Thursday from 3:30-5:00pm. Contact Program Director, Teqosha White for more details at programming@carpenterartgarden.org.

Stories in Color: Arts + Literacy K–3 After-School Program

Stories in Color is a year-long after-school pilot program that helps young learners grow as readers, writers, artists, and storytellers through hands-on creative experiences. Led by a professional teaching artist and supported by teen mentors and community volunteers, students explore drawing, painting, collage, creative writing, and visual storytelling while strengthening literacy skills in a fun and engaging environment.

Throughout the year, students will create and illustrate three original five-page storybooks, build vocabulary through weekly Fry sight words, develop characters and story plots, and gain confidence expressing their ideas through both words and art. Along the way, they'll meet children's authors, receive signed books to take home, and celebrate their accomplishments with family and friends at an end-of-year Storybook Showcase.

Whether your child already loves reading and drawing or is just beginning to discover their creativity, Stories in Color provides a welcoming space where imagination flourishes, confidence grows, and every child has the opportunity to become both an author and an artist. And because it is sponosored by the Tennessee Arts Commission, we can offer this program completely free for families.
